Crafting at home to relieve stress

Welcome to Inge’s Homemade Crafts Blog. Inge’s blogging about crocheting and knitting projects where you can stitch your stress away.

Have you ever tried coloring with a pencil or pen? Many adults who can not crochet or knit are doing this activity to help relieve stress.
I have a passion for crafting. I love to do all kinds of crafts, but try to keep it down to beading, crochet, knitting, embroidery, rug latch, and quilting. I have been practicing needlework arts for 45 years. I started out with cross-stitch embroidery before learning to crochet and knit. Needlework has always been a hobby for me, and I enjoy working with my hands to create beautiful items for the home and to give as gifts.
Did you know that doing crafts may ease stress, increase happiness by releasing neurotransmitters called dopamine, plus it may protect the brain from aging, according to the article from CNN Health titled, “This is Your Brain on Crafting“? If you have found yourself here, please consider crafting at home to alleviate everyday stress and maintain your brain’s health.
We definitely need to be crafting in our homes, on the bus, on the train, or in the office to help ease the added day of stress in our lives. I will share projects I’ve made, with a link to the pattern. I hope you will try out the patterns and rediscover that you can make beautiful heirloom pieces for yourself and friends.
No matter what kind of needlework you do, always relax and have fun while doing it.

The Granny Ripple Stitch
You may have seen this chart on the internet for the Granny Ripple Stitch, but with the difference of cluster of three double crochets. The picture above has three grouping of double crochet clusters instead of four grouping of clusters as in the chart. You can do either grouping of clusters. I have done both with good results.
